Hi Beth & Hannah!
Thank you for taking some time to meet me today along with Joyce, it was so great to be in person and get a feel for how you all want to approach your celebration! I love to take photos in abundance, so definitely not worried about following you all around for the weekend! I loved the energy you both bring, and I'm sure David's family is a wonderful group and reflection of some shared values and traits. You have found yourself at one of my favorite spaces in the city to celebrate, and I'm genuinely happy that you have the opportunity to host there. We talked about a lot, but my priority for you is to always stay in your moment and make sure I'm there to capture it, always offering experience and guidance to your vision, and collaborating with the great team you assemble at any step of the way. For now, please know I am here for any questions that come up and please see an initial proposal below which I'm happy to elaborate on or revise at any time.
Being comfortable in your moments. The experience ahead is the culmination of all that is personal, and proper thought about how you want to receive and spread that love should be given. That extends to the people you surround yourself with. I focus on being your photographic guide and an emotional constant, blending in and out to let you live your day. Treating all parties with equity as we weave through events is the groundwork of a candidly told experience you will always want to revisit. It is an honor to share these incredibly personal days as a matter of professional routine, only growing in importance and as a day I look forward to again in my on life from the lens of a parent.
We'll start with always working. Being aware of my surroundings at all times and thinking through the moment or steps that lie ahead. Being conscious of what is happening, be it ceremonial or personal, and how my presence impacts that environment while still being able to capture it. Understanding when to step back and let the feelings breath, and when to step in and and guide the photography. Everyone has different levels of confidence in front of the camera, but I love to learn your playful sides in the relationship and help shape those poses to look and feel authentic.
On a personal note, I'm married to my High School Sweetheart, and our relationship is the foundation of my approach to a wedding day. At this point we have spent over half our lives together, which is a fun benchmark to achieve. We have two great kids, both navigating the elementary school life of Evanston, and we keep busy with club soccer and my efforts to turn them into Midwest ski junkies. My business has afforded us the opportunity to be with them on a daily basis since their beginnings, something we would never change.
Not every career can be born from a favor, for this I am lucky. The extent of my formal training is my Dad's camera and a Photo 101 class in the twilight of university. Life brought me to Japan, and with it a new love of photography, documenting our experiences abroad through an inherently natural medium. After relocating to Chicago in 2008, at a friend's request I was photographing my first wedding, and my future couldn't have been more clear.
It has been an amazing journey to this point, working alongside so many talented professionals in landmark buildings and spaces across the country. I didn't see this coming as a kid, and that's just fine, it means I followed my instincts and talents to get here.
